About

Ultra – Filtration Unit

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a one membrane water filtration process that serves as a barrier to suspended viruses, solids, bacteria, endotoxins, and other microorganisms. Through this purification process, one can produce pure water with low silt density.

Process Flow in an Ultra-Filtration Unit

  • Feed Water Intake: Raw water is pumped into the UF unit.
  • Pre-treatment: Removes larger particles and reduces the load on the UF membranes.
  • Filtration: Water passes through the UF membranes, where particulates, bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants are retained.
  • Permeate Collection: Filtered water (permeate) is collected for further use or treatment.
  • Backwashing: Periodic cleaning of the membranes to maintain performance.
  • Concentrate Disposal: The concentrate, containing the retained contaminants, is disposed of or treated further.
